VOLUNTEER + EARN YOUR COLORFUL CORD
Earn a “Colorful Cord” to be worn on your gown at your high school graduation, which indicates that you’ve dedicated at least 40 hours of volunteer service to Main Street West Branch during your high school career. This program will be implemented using a sliding scale over next 3 years to earn cords:
-
Class of '24 = 20 hours
-
Class of '25 = 30 hours
-
Class of '26 and beyond need 40 hours
What counts?
Eligible “colorful cord” hours can be earned by assisting Main Street West Branch with downtown projects and events. Hours at the following activities starting in May 2023 will be counted.

Volunteer shifts at events including Hoover’s Hometown Days, Summer Kickoff, Fall Fest, Sweets for Success and Christmas Past.
-
Volunteer work assisting the Main Street director with office tasks (based on your skills, interest and current office needs).
-
Seasonal downtown beautification projects like Street Sweeps, Watering Flowers, and holiday decorating.
-
Serving on a Main Street Committee of your choice (meet monthly via Zoom).
